Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 offers a complete certification standard for food safety systems based on existing standards for certification (i.e., ISO 22000, ISO 22003, and technical specifications for sector PRPs). It is, in fact, the first food safety certification scheme that is fully consistent with all relevant ISO standards.
Food Safety Across the Production Process
FSSC 22000 is specifically targeted at food and food packaging manufacturers, and takes into consideration the GFSI’s gap analysis. The standard is heavily focused on implementing an integrated management system framework that is consistent with other standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
By following a management systems approach, FSSC aims to:
- Harmonize the certification requirements and methods for food safety systems in the food chain
- Ensure the issue of trustworthy food safety certificates that are comparable in content and scope
- Help secure food safety standards within the production process of the supply chain
